The sky was a dismal gray, lightning shook the sky while thunder shook the ground. It was nearly midnight and every light in the house had been forcefully turned off, except for the occasional flicker. Amber sat with her knees pulled up against her chest and a robe draped about her shoulders, staring out the window. She could not sleep, fore she was terrified of thunder. The rain she'd been watching soon turned to hail, she shivered and tried to without success to snuggle into the robe for warmth. Behind her, she heard the light switch being toggled followed by muffled footsteps then a kiss on her cheek. She looked up at him, her love, Kyle. Smiling he sat down beside her, "Can't sleep?" he asked quietly as to not awaken the others. "No," she replied, he nodded in return and stepped away and returned within a few moments with a blanket. He removed the robe from about her shoulders and placed the blanket in its spot and sat down next to her. As the warmth of the blanket and each other surrounded them, she sank her head onto his shoulder, and he wrapped his arms around her. Their fingers intertwined and she gazed out of the window once more.
Your arms are my safe haven.
